Matthew Coogan specializes in the application of intermodal and multimodal planning techniques. He is the author of many studies of multimodal transportation, having served as Principal Investigator on a dozen such projects for the Cooperative Research Programs of the Transportation Research Board.
For the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Matt served as Undersecretary of Transportation and Project Director of the Central Artery/Third Harbor Crossing Project (also known as āthe Big Digā) and helped found the Coalition of Northeastern Governorsā Task Force on High Speed Rail. He has lectured on transportation issues throughout the United States and in Europe and Asia.
Matt's work has been featured in The Economist, Engineering News Record, Architectural Record, The New York Times, USA Today, Bloomberg News Service, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post, and has appeared on The Today Show, WNYC, CBS News, and National Public Radio.
Matt is a frequent lecturer at major universities and enjoys working with students and younger transportation professionals. He is also a founding member of the Board of Directors of the International Air/Rail Organization based in Heathrow Airport, London.
