2016 Energy, Utility, & Environment Conference (EUEC2016)

RSG Co-Founder Colin High and RSG Director Eddie Duncan to present this week at the Energy, Utility, & Environment Conference (EUEC2016) in San Diego, CA. Colin’s presentation is on protocol revisions concerning electric power generation and GHG measurement. Eddie’s, on the other hand, will discuss how to understand noise complaints from low-noise utility projects. The EUEC is touted as the largest conference of its kind on these subjects, facilitating information exchange and fostering cooperation between industry, government, and regulatory stakeholders for the protection of our environment and energy security.

2016 ITE Utah Conference

RSG’s Stephen Lawe presented this afternoon at the 2016 Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Utah Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. His presentation ā€œRisk: Traffic Forecastingā€ discussed how to understand and manage uncertainty in the future forecasting process when using models to support policy decisions.

ITE is comprised of local transportation engineers, planners, and other professionals responsible for the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of Utah’s transportation system.

Transportation Research Board (95th) Annual Meeting

RSG is honored to sponsor and contribute to the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in DC this week. We look forward to leading 19 presentations in addition to moderating several committee meetings.

2015 International Urban Freight (I-NUF) Conference

RSG Senior Director Peter Plumeau will be presenting at the 2015 International Urban Freight Conference in Long Beach, CA this week. His presentation is titled, ā€œUrban Design: Making Freight and Logistics Work within the Urban Settingā€ and he will also be moderating the panel, ā€œThe Imperative for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability–Impacts on the Freight System.ā€

RSG Senior Consultant Erica Wygonik is co-author on a presentation at the event as well, presented by Nathan Mayes and titled, ā€œModeling Vehicle Miles Traveled and Emissions Considerations for Goods Delivery Scenario Decisions.ā€

Renewable Energy 2015 (RE2015) Conference

RSG Senior Director, Ken Kaliski, to present this afternoon at the Renewable Energy (RE2015) conference in Burlington, Vermont. His presentation, titled ā€œA Sound Experience of Wind Energy in Vermont,ā€ discusses the history of wind turbine sound in Vermont, including project conditions, sound monitoring results, noise complaints, and future expectations.

RE2015 is the leading event for the renewable energy sectors in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Northern New York. The conference brings together key players in the clean energy sector and highlights current energy challenges, Vermont’s leadership role in the energy industry, and the steps needed to implement an integrated energy infrastructure. National Academy of Engineering Workshop – Engineering a Quieter America: Progress on Consumer and Industrial Product Noise Reduction

RSG Senior Consultant Karl Washburn was invited to present a paper titled, ā€œEngineering Quieter Off-Road Machinesā€ as part of the two-day workshop, ā€œEngineering a Quieter America: Progress on Consumer and Industrial Product Noise Reduction.ā€ The workshop was held in Washington, DC on October 6th and 7th and was sponsored by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

This was the third workshop in a series following NAE’s publication of ā€œTechnology for a Quieter Americaā€ in 2010. The NAE, which advises Congress and the Administration on policy regarding engineering, will publish the workshop transcript in 2016.

Air Quality Modeling and Public Health Workshop

RSG Director John Hinckley to present today at the Air Quality Modeling and Public Health Workshop in Albany, NY.

His presentation will discuss the air quality permitting work performed for a new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at SUNY ESF in Syracuse, NY. It will focus on how air dispersion modeling of CHP emissions was used to help design the project by identifying the stack height and emission controls needed to meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).

44th International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering (Inter-Noise 2015)

RSG Sr. Director Ken Kaliski and Sr. Consultant Karl Washburn have been in San Francisco this week attending Inter-Noise 2015, the 44th International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering. The conference, known as the largest noise conference in the world, is sponsored by the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE).

On Tuesday, Ken co-chaired the ā€œRenewable Energy Noise Control Technologiesā€ session. Today, he gave a presentation titled ā€œField Evaluation of Reflected Noise from a Single Noise Barrier.ā€

Three RSGers to present this week at the New York State Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (NYSAMPO) 2015 Annual Conference in Syracuse, NY.

Eric Talbot will present ā€œThe Ohio DOT Infrastructure Resiliency Planā€ on work RSG is conducting for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to provide adaptation responses to climate change effects. Colin Smith will present ā€œā€™Big Data’ in Transportation Planning: User Perspectives, Challenges, and Successes,ā€ which will review the state of the practice in transportation planning and travel modeling with respect to using ā€œbig dataā€ sources of travel data to inform planning decisions. Steven Gayle will moderate several sessions and will present ā€œResiliency Planningā€ on how states and MPOs are planning for more resilient transportation networks in the face of more frequent extreme weather events.
