On Tuesday, he led a roundtable discussion where representatives of other professional associations, including American Planning Association, American Public Works Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Highway Engineers, and the Congress for New Urbanism, discussed their organizationās response to 21st century transportation challenges. Yesterday, Steve gave a presentation on planning for future mobility, including sharing RSGās proposed future mobility planning process for metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and cities.
As autonomous vehicle (AV) technology advances closer to our everyday reality, transportation planning organizations across the US are collecting data about residentsā attitudes toward these new technologies to inform long-range planning. The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (Jacksonville, FL region) conducted two surveys in 2017-2018 that collected attitudinal AV data from a combined 10,121 respondents.Ā RSG's Michelle Lee and Abigail Rosenson will share the results of those findings, particularly as they relate to resident demographics, at the Automated Vehicles Symposium, from July 15-18 in Orlando, Florida.
The event convenes industry, government, and academia from around the world to address complex technology, operations, and policy issues. Sponsored by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the Automated Vehicles Symposium is the largest dedicated automated vehicles meeting in the world.
RSGās Isaac Old is presenting this week at the 8th International Conference on Wind Turbine Noise in Lisbon, Portugal.
The conference, organized by the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE) – Europe, brings together researchers and designers from around the world to share and discuss the latest information on noise and vibration from wind turbines.
RSGās Erica Wygonik at the 2019 International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD) today in Alexandria, Virginia. Sheās on a multi-disciplinary panel on drones and will be talking about the environmental impacts of drone use for deliveries.
The conference, sponsored and organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), brings together experts from the public sector with leaders from the high-tech world to discuss the impact, challenges, and opportunities in engineering smart mobility for the smart city.
We're looking forward to sharing some of our work and learning from others at the 2019 Planning Applications this week in Portland, OR.Ā Weāll be leading 23 presentations at the event, covering a range of topicsāfrom a case study on the first large-scale survey of TNC users to our work on the behavioral-based national freight model.
TheĀ 2019 Planning Applications ConferenceĀ is a four-day event giving attendees the opportunity to showcase and learn from practitioners and academics on new transportation planning techniques and methods emphasizing practical, innovative, and timely technical and policy approaches to transportation planning. We are proud to be a sponsor of the event.
We are proud to sponsor and attend the 2019 ITE Northeastern District Annual Meeting this week in New Haven, CT.
RSG Director Steve Gayle will present at the meeting alongside John Sterbentz of the Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study on the benefits of using smartphone surveys with smaller metropolitan planning organizations. The use of RSGās smartphone survey application rMove™ on the Broome-Tioga Household Travel Survey showed more trips were captured and a higher level of accuracy than a traditional paper travel diary approach. Steve will also be moderating the session āLessons Learned on Data Collection and Applications.”
We are looking forward to learning from others and sharing our work with three presentations at the 2019 Innovations in Freight Data Workshop this week in Irvine, CA.
The workshop is a two-day event to bring together freight data users and decision makers to learn and share the latest applications of emerging freight data sources, development of value-added features, integration of data sets, and other innovations.
We're looking forward to sharing some of our work and learning from others at the 2019 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC next week.Ā Weāll be moderating four sessions and giving sixteen presentations at the event, covering a range of topicsāfrom meteorological effects on highway noise to the impacts of delivery drones on transportation.
The TRB Annual Meeting program covers all transportation modes, with sessions and workshops addressing topics of interest to policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The program is expected to attract over 13,000 transportation professionals from around the world. We are proud to be a sponsor.
RSG Director Jonathan Slason is presenting this week at the Vermont Economic Conference. The event, sponsored by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, will take place today in Burlington (VT) and tomorrow in Castleton (VT).
Jonathanās presentation will cover Vermont demographic trends and their implications on housing demand. He will also summarize local and national survey work and how it relates to where people prefer to locate and discuss how those decisions then affect transportation, land use, and affordability.
RSG Director Jon Slason presented last week at the Vermont Development Conference in Burlington, VT. His presentation, āDemographics and Housing: Envisioning the Future of Vermont Living,ā was alongside Betsy Bishop of the Vermont Futures Project. Their interactive session shared details on the rapidly changing dynamics of housing in Vermont and hosted a discussion on how to address these challenges.
On Saturday, RSGās Abbie Larkin presented at the Acadia National Park Science Symposium at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. The presentation, which was part of the session on using science to preserve resources and protect visitor experience, described RSG's work constructing models to inform transportation planning and visitor use management at Acadia National Park.
The symposium was designed to provide a forum to hear about science taking place in the region and to interact and build collaborations with scientists, students, park staff, and others working in a range of fields.
RSG Director Steven Gayle presented earlier this week at the ITE New York Upstate Section Annual Meeting in Scotia, NY. His presentation was titled āPlanning for Future Mobility.ā RSG is proud to have been a silver sponsor of the event.
