Oak Hill Mine
Oak Hill Mine is a wollastonite (a type of mineral) quarry in the Adirondacks in New York State. The mine sought to incorporate additional mineral processing equipment into their operation. RSG conducted a noise assessment in preparation for a permit amendment application to the Adirondack Park Agency (APA), which oversees public and private land use within the Adirondack Park.
The assessment included measurement of existing operational sound levels at the quarry and throughout the surrounding areas. It also included sound-propagation modeling to project existing and future sound levels from the proposed changes to the operation. Sound-level measurement and modeling indicated that the existing operation produced sound levels below the permitted sound-level limit without any additional mitigation. RSG provided the noise assessment report with the permit application to the APA, and we responded to all clarifying questions from the APA.
