Colin Smith leads RSG’s freight model development work and brings more than two decades of experience in transportation planning. His expertise includes the development and application of strategic models, survey data, discrete choice models, and network modeling tools to understand travel behavior, including freight movement, long-distance passenger travel, airport choice, and airport ground access. He also supports efforts to model greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and forecast demand for new transit services and highway capacity.
At RSG, Colin contributes to projects for the Transportation Research Board, Federal Highway Administration, state departments of transportation, and metropolitan planning organizations. His work helps clients use robust data and advanced modeling tools to guide strategic transportation decisions and investments.
Colin lives in New Hampshire with his family and enjoys hiking, trail running, cycling, gardening, and slowly renovating his old house. He especially values time spent outdoors with his kids.
