2nd Annual Uber Elevate Summit

We are honored to be attending and contributing to the 2nd Annual Uber Elevate Summit this week in Los Angeles. The invite-only summit is designed to bring vehicle manufacturers, regulators, investors, technology suppliers, and federal & local policymakers together to explore the exciting future of urban aviation. RSG President Tom Adler will be presenting in the “Demand Modeling and Network Optimization” session, detailing the research methodology RSG used to estimate future demand for Uber Elevate.

2018 Vermont Walk/Bike Summit

Our White River Junction, Vermont office is hosting the “Safe & Healthy Communities” track of the Vermont Walk/Bike Summit today.

The summit, organized by the Two Rivers-Ottauquechee and Southern Windsor County Regional Planning Commissions in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Transportation, connects community members, employers, planners, and researchers for in-depth sharing on current efforts, new ideas, and networking to advance more livable communities throughout Vermont.

RSG’s Ben Swanson was on the organizing committee and RSG’s Erica Wygonik will be giving two presentations—“Bike Crash Analysis on State Roads” and “A Sidewalk Success Story: 3 Years of Teamwork.”

AWEA Wind Project Siting & Environmental Compliance Conference

RSG’s Ryan Haac is presenting at the AWEA Wind Project Siting & Environmental Compliance Conference in Memphis tomorrow. His session is titled “Attitudes of Wind Project Neighbors: Deep Dive with Berkeley Lab Researchers on National Survey,” and will include an RSG-led investigation of various predictors of reported ability to hear turbines and stated sound annoyance.

Ryan is also hosting an RSG booth along with Eddie Duncan. If you’re at the conference, come visit us in the exhibit hall!

Transportation Research Board (TRB) 97th Annual Meeting

We are honored to sponsor and contribute to the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC next week. We look forward to leading 14 presentations in addition to moderating several committee meetings. 2017 Acoustical Society in America Meeting

RSG Senior Director Ken Kaliski and Analyst Ryan Haac are attending the Acoustical Society in America meeting in New Orleans this week. Ken is chairing the Wind Turbine Noise session, and Ryan is to present preliminary results of wind turbine noise research—in particular, how RSG is using survey data for insight into the factors affecting audibility and annoyance to wind turbine sound.

RSG Director Eddie Duncan and Senior Analyst Isaac Old will be at the Renewable Energy Vermont (REV2017) Conference this week in Burlington, VT. The annual conference brings together professionals from an array of industries, policy makers, and regulators to discuss renewable energy topics relevant to Vermont.

Eddie will be presenting on the proposed rule to regulate wind turbine sound in Vermont and taking part in a panel discussion in a session titled, “Changing Winds: Technology, Siting, & Regulatory Updates on the Most Affordable Energy Solution.”

11th International Conference on Transport Survey Methods

RSG’s Elizabeth Greene, Mark Bradley, Mark Fowler, and Aaron Lee are attending the 11th International Conference on Transport Survey Methods in Quebec, Canada this week.

Organized by the International Steering Committee for Travel Survey Conferences (ISCTSC), the conference aims to offer transport professionals the opportunity to present their work, promote international collaboration, and serve as a forum for the presentation of workshops, papers, and posters.

2017 DC-AAPOR and WSS Summer Preview/Review Conference

RSG’s Joann Lynch to present next week at the Summer Conference Preview/Review for the DC Chapter of the American Association of Public Opinion Research (DC-AAPOR) at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC.

She will present on “Smartphone GPS Applications as a Mode of Travel Survey Data Collection” using study results to compare traditional and smartphone GPS data collection modes at the household-, person-, and trip-levels.

Transportation Research Board (TRB) Innovations in Freight Data Workshop

RSG Senior Analyst Kaveh Shabani to present later this week at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Innovations in Freight Data Workshop in Irvine, California. His presentation, “Validating Florida Freight Model with Truck GPS Data” will cover how RSG used truck GPS data to validate an advanced supply chain freight model for the state of Florida.
 
The workshop will bring together freight data experts, users and decision-makers to learn and share the latest applications of emerging “big” freight data sources to improve freight planning, freight operations and mobility, and freight visualization.
