RSG Director Steve Gayle to present this week at the 2017 Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Northeastern District Annual Meeting in Vernon Township, NJ. His presentation, titled “At the Intersection of Goods Movement and Livability,” will examine the often overlooked issue of planning for urban goods movement and present possible solutions. 2017 International Conference on Wind Turbine Noise
RSG Consultant Isaac Old will present this week at the 2017 International Conference on Wind Turbine Noise in Rotterdam the Netherlands. His presentation will use knowledge about the differences in results between sound propagation modeling methods and how wind turbine noise varies over time to compare results from recent studies on how humans respond to wind turbine noise.
This biennial international conference on wind turbine noise is organized by INCE-Europe and is a main forum for the technical discussion of wind turbine noise, from how it is generated to its effect on neighbors.

2017 North Carolina Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (NCAMPO) Conference
RSG Director Vince Bernardin will present this week at the 2017 North Carolina Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (NCAMPO) Conference in New Bern, NC from April 26-28.
His presentation, titled “The Power of Big Data – and its Limits!,” will share an assessment of using big data sources to improve modeling accuracy, including a candid look at their power and the often overlooked complications.

58th Transportation Research Forum Annual Conference
RSG Senior Transportation Engineer, Kordel Braley, is presenting later this week alongside Christopher Chestnut of the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) at the 58th Transportation Research Forum Annual Conference. Their presentation, titled “Attitudinal Market Segmentation Applied to Transit Service Area: An Updated Approach,” will discuss RSG’s use of latent class cluster analysis to perform a market segmentation of transit riders and non-riders in Utah to assist the UTA with bus service planning improvements. The conference is taking place in Chicago, Illinois on April 20-21.

2017 George Wright Society Conference on Parks, Protected Areas, and Cultural Sites
RSG’s Steve Lawson, Susan Irizarry, Ellen Rovelstad, and Alex Belensz are headed to the 2017 George Wright Society Conference next week. Among them, they have organized two sessions and will have four presentations and one poster at the event, which will take place from April 2-7 in Norfolk, Virginia.
The conference, organized by the George Wright Society, takes place every two years and is the premier interdisciplinary professional meeting on parks, protected areas, and cultural sites.

2017 Global City Teams Challenge Super Action Cluster Summit on Transportation
RSG Director Ben Stabler presented last week at the Global City Teams Challenge Super Action Cluster Summit on Transportation. His presentation, “Developing the ActivitySim Open Platform for Travel Demand Modeling,” shared why the transportation industry needs ActivitySim and why a transparent and open software focused project is important. The summit, which focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration related to intelligent transportation solutions, took place February 1-2 in Portland, OR.

2017 Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Utah Chapter Annual Conference
RSG Sr. Director Bob Chamberlin presented last month at the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Utah Chapter Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. He gave two presentations at the conference—“Work/Life Balance & Five Learnings” and “Road Usage Charging: Trends and Techniques,” the latter of which shared the effects of electric vehicles and the gas tax funding research RSG completed for the Utah Department of Transportation.

96th Annual Transportation Research Board (TRB) Meeting

Both RSG Director John Hinckley & Senior Engineer Jon Slason are presenting at today’s Vermont Development Conference in Burlington, Vermont. John Hinckley’s presentation is on air pollution and the air permitting process. Meanwhile, Jon Slason’s presentation will be Q&A-style, focused on hot topics in transportation engineering. The conference, hosted by White + Burke, attracts over 275 development professionals from New England to discuss the future of and issues surrounding commercial development in Vermont.

RSG’s Susie Irizarry presented at the International Symposium for Society and Resource Management (ISSRM) in Houghton, Michigan from June 22-26. Her presentation focused on RSG’s application of a sustainable transportation framework to evaluate and make recommendations to address the visitor use and transportation issues at three high-use recreation sites in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado. test
